Challa Bonja

Challa Bonja is an experienced traffic/transportation engineer with two decades of career spanning both  public and private sectors. He has led and successfully managed several projects during his prior employments both as a consultant for Arcadis and as a representative owner for Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and the City of Marietta. He has developed, implemented and fine-tuned arterial traffic signal timing for corridors of varying complexities at several locations in Metropolitan Atlanta region, across Georgia as well as in Houston, TX.

 

Challa's more than 10 years of experience in public sector gives him understanding of the needs and challenges public officials face as it relates to traffic and citizen concerns. He has implemented unconventional and very effective tools such as half-cycle, uneven half-cycle, lead/lag, and double service of left turns to meet the needs at challenging locations.

 

During his employment in the public sector, Challa has managed several projects from planning and design to construction, operation and maintenance. This experience has given him unique understanding of project challenges and the ability to collaborate with planners, engineers, technicians, contractors, maintaining agencies, elected officials and other stakeholders.

 

Challa is registered as Professional Engineer (PE) in the states of Georgia, Alabama, Florida, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington D.C. He is also certified as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) and Road Safety Professional, Level 2 with Infrastructure Specialty (RSP2I) by the Transportation Professional Certification Board. He holds BS degree in Civil Engineering from Addis Ababa University and MS degree in Software Engineering from Kennesaw State University.
